Mission

The mission of Hiráaca Maa Aru Cáawi is to revitalize hiraaca as a living language, and through it, transmit hiraaca lifeways (Maa Aru Caawi) to future generations.

Our long term mission of Hiráaca Maa Aru Cáawi is to strengthen and empower Native People Hiráaca language, community education and outreach. Our focus service population will be the Indigenous population of the Fort Berthold Reservation, surrounding areas and region, though we plan to partner with a myriad of organizations and groups to inform our work, and help provide the programming education and assistance.

Vision

The vision of Hiráaca Maa Aru Cáawi is to facilitate a vibrant healthy community of understanding, tolerance, inclusion and appreciation for Hiráaca language, as well as closely associated Arikara (Sahnish)  and Mandan (Nuu'etaa) languages, and Indigenous Languages of North America. The ultimate goal would be to create opportunities and space for language learning, language archives, academic topics, and various language programs aimed at maintaining and revitalizing the Hiráaca language of the Northern Plains.
